Where can I get the C-D client installer?
http://www.unitedadmins.com - "win32 client" is the one you want.
Unfortunately, the project has been discontinued and the client is no longer available.
I`m using DoD retail, and having problems
3.3.0 - Try use normally like with Counter-Strike 1.5 first. If this doesn't work try following: Create new shortcut with commandline "c:\path_to_cd\cdeath.exe" "d:\path_to_dod\dod.exe". You can add commandline options for DoD after "dod.exe". If you have C-D installed in "c:\cdeath\" and DoD in "g:\games\dod\" and you want to use -console option with DoD create shortcut with commandline "c:\cdeath\cdeath.exe" "g:\games\dod\dod.exe" -console.
How do I install C-D Client?
It's very simple, but if your a bit unsure, Check this link: http://home.c2i.net/ffffffffff/nc/tutclient.html. Also read the readme, even if this tutorial tells you to skip it.
What port does the C-D client use?
It does not use any ports, it uses the HL message system.
Half-life crashes when starting it with C-D active.
Check your hl.exe/cstrike.exe filesize (For the exact file size, check the question bellow). If it's bigger than one megabyte, it has been modified by a virus. Clean up your system, then reinstall the game and C-D client.
How do I check for a virus?

- Size of normal CS 1.5 retail "cstrike.exe" is 924kb.
- Size of normal HL 1.1.1.0 retail "hl.exe" is 920kb.

When I use C-D I got a huge drop in FPS and lag
You can change the value of [cd_fps ( 1 - 6 )
C-D has added a cd_fps command to allow you to modify the number of visual tests performed. On many computers the number of visual tests performed has very little impact on FPS. However, if C-D is reducing your FPS to an unacceptable level, modifying cd_fps may help. You should try to keep the number of visual tests as high as possible because it reduces the chances of visibility problems. cd_fps has the following values:
- 0 - Maximum visibility tests (same as #6)(default)
- 1 - Level 1 visibility tests (Minimum tests)
- 2 - Level 2 visibility tests
- 3 - Level 3 visibility tests
- 4 - Level 4 visibility tests
- 5 - Level 5 visibility tests
- 6 - Level 6 visibility tests (Maximum tests)
Can I make the "All-Seeing Eye" server browser auto start C-D?
This is the best way to use C-D as you don't even notice when it's in use. All you do is: go into ASE, 'goto' View>Options, click on the Games tab then select Half-Life. Click on Anti-Cheat, select the options "Launch Cheating-Death when connecting to Cheating-Death monitored servers" and "Shut down Cheating-Death whenquitting game".

When I use C-D I have sound problems
C-D has added a cd_sound command to allow you to modify how C-D removes non-visible players from the screen. On some systems, the method chosen can affect the sound.
cd_sound has the following values:
- 0 - This uses the new method of player removal. (default)
- 1 - This uses the old method of player removal.
I'm getting Code 16
This means you are using bad skins/models or sprites. Check cdbin.log to find out what model was wrong, replace it with the original.
C-D is running, but I get [NO C-D] or get kicked. Nothing is written to cd.log.
Rename your HL executable to hl.exe (or cstrike.exe if you have CS retail)
Can I get a list of the C-D codes?
No. The reason is simple, this list could help cheaters pass the C-D Client, However if you feel C-D has a bug, you can post in the forums. Remember to read the "how to get help"
I was testing a cheat (or my brother/dog installed) and now C-D keeps kicking me off servers.
Delete your HL, reinstall it. If this does not help you need to format your hard drive.
Can I use C-D client on Linux?
Possibly, we have added limited wine support (note: winex will NOT work). There is no native client for Linux. (if you want native support, mail Valve)
I'm having some other problem not stated here
Try download the latest beta version of C-D, here. If you still having problem, make sure you follow the instuctions on the bottom of this FAQ. Beta versions are NOT downloaded by the auto updater.
When I join a server running VAC/VSM i get a message to read the manual.
This is because VAC would detect C-D as a cheat, to prevent this C-D will quits Half-life. Never try to connect a VAC server with C-D running. You might get global banned from all of them!
What is VAC/VSM?
VAC is the built in anti-cheat made my Valve. VAC servers are also known "secure" servers.
When I run C-D my sensitivity is changed?
Try changing value of cd_mouse with your original sensitivity.
Im having some other problem, not mention here. Is there anything i can try out?
Yes here is a few things you might try:
- Open cheating-death -> go to options -> and disable the process monitoring features
- Start -> run -> dxdiag -> sound -> turn down hardware acceleration
